Manufacturing Process

Mild steel is produced using Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF) or Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) methods. The steel is refined, impurities are removed, and the carbon content is adjusted to achieve the required mechanical properties. Mild steel products conform to Indian Standards (IS) for quality and performance:

IS 2062:2011 – Hot rolled medium and high tensile structural steel.
IS 1079:2017 – Cold rolled carbon steel sheets and strips.
IS 1239:2019 – Steel tubes for structural and fluid applications.
IS 1161:2014 – Steel tubes for structural purposes.
IS 513:2016 – Cold reduced carbon steel sheets and strips.

Post-production, mild steel is processed into different forms:
